This article puts me in mind of the purpose of psychoactive medications. Your life may be full of trials, disappointments, failures, and drudgery. But instead of coming up with ways to fix (or stoically endure) those things, you could simply medicate around them so that the feeling itself is changed. What is true? Well, if it feels true, maybe it is true. Or it’s close enough, and don’t bother me with the details.
Frankfurt’s On Bullshit’s a go to reference for me. BS’ers have agendas but those are irrespective of truth designed to inflate their sense of self efficacy. The liar’s agenda is a whole different matter. The liar knows the truth but chooses deceitfulness to enact an agenda. The honest person won’t inflate their self worth or say things know to be false for the sake of expediency. Endowed with unflappable common sense the honest person counsels probity.
BSers -- confabulists in general -- remind me of the closing paragraph in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas":
"I took another big hit off the amyl, and by the time I got to the bar my heart was full of joy. I felt like a monster reincarnation of Horatio Alger ... a Man on the Move, and just sick enough to be totally confident."
Thanks for this article, Pamela. You know it’s a 'damned lie' when pointing out the truth causes a disproportionate reaction.
The ability to sort out the truth gets complicated when there’s a serial liar involved. He never tells the truth! Politics is a strange game!

"God damn, the pusher; God damn, I say the pusher; I said God damn; God damn the pusher man" ... 😉🙂

So much bullshit! Spicer and Conway should never have been rehabilitated.
Thought my analysis of the "transwomen in women's sports" might also be relevant here:
